Daily Moviefilm

It is my goal to watch at least one movie during my leave.  The last 12 days have been spent getting used to having a baby (holy shite!!!!), and during a particularly rough night of fussiness and gas, J and I were able to watch a movie that we'd had from Netflix for about 3 weeks.

Let the Right One In is a lovely Swedish vampire film with a 12-year-old twinkie as the protagonist.  It derives from the novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist, who also wrote the screenplay for the film.  It is very well done, and several creepy moments are magnified by the fact that they are downplayed and not the focus of the action.  The setting is perfect - cold, desolate, very Swedish.   The film takes place in a Stockholm suburb, but the filming took place in northern Sweden to ensure snow and cold weather.

A must-see for fans of the genre, or for anyone who enjoys great story-telling and great cinematography.
